L’ètica en la recerca a la UAB: Els primers trenta anys
Synopsis
In a context of dizzying environmental, technological, social and cultural transformations, this book presents the living history of the reflection and practice of ethics in research at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) explained by its protagonists.
UAB was the first university in Spain to have an ethics committee, in this case for animal experimentation. During the three decades covered in the book, the changes in the ethical review of research projects, which at first were biomedical and later also in the social sciences and humanities, are explained. This process continues with the presence of emerging technologies, big data and digital platforms, among others.
The book is a witness to the need to maintain ethical reflection as an inseparable part of the same process of scientific discovery and the need to disseminate and train new generations of academics in the principles of scientific ethos.
