Economia circular: El camí cap a la sostenibilitat
Synopsis
Circular Economy. The Path Towards Sustainability aims to introduce readers to the circular economy (CE), one of the key strategies of the 21st century that promotes sustainable development, and to examine whether, in the short term, it will become a reality or remain a desire after analyzing political, economic, social, and environmental factors.
The current economic system is unsustainable: only 7.2% of products and services are circular, and all projections indicate that the socio-environmental impact of consumption will continue to grow in the coming years.
In response to this issue, the circular economy is a necessity and is beginning to become a reality thanks to greater consumer awareness and a stricter environmental regulatory framework. The CE seeks to achieve more efficient and resilient production and consumption systems that preserve resources in a continuous cycle by optimizing their value and minimizing waste generation.
This book presents policies, indicators, tools, and strategies for innovation, prevention, and resource minimization, as well as examples of circular ecodesign and overall improvement of products and services—from their design to their end-of-life management—demonstrating that a more circular and sustainable future is possible.
