Textos, dibuixos, col·leccions: Escrits d’història de l’art en homenatge a Bonaventura Bassegoda i Hugas
Synopsis
Professor Emeritus at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), full member of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi and the Institute for Catalan Studies, Bonaventura Bassegoda i Hugas (Barcelona, 1954) is one of the most prominent figures in art history within the Hispanic and Catalan spheres. Specialized in Early Modern art and, particularly, in artistic literature and Spanish Golden Age painting, he has also made major contributions to the history of Catalan art and the history of collecting. Beyond his career as a researcher, characterized by his critical rigor, Bassegoda's commitment to the UAB and the Department of Art and Musicology is equally noteworthy, as are his numerous initiatives in institutional and publishing fields, which have provided platforms and resources for disseminating research in art history and collecting. The study of artistic literature, painting, and drawing—mainly in the Early Modern period—alongside collecting and the art market, form the core themes of the collection of contributions presented in this volume. However, the thematic scope occasionally expands in other directions, reflecting the breadth of Bassegoda's friendships and academic alliances. With these contributions, we honor his mastership in research and teaching, as well as his activism, generosity, and courageous example in defense of artistic heritage.
