Alejandro Magno en la pantalla

Synopsis

Throughout the pages of this book, we have sought to invite other, freer and at times less orthodox or less historical ways of remembering Alexander. This should help us perceive how this character, an everlasting Western symbol of so many lessons for the human essence, has been and continues to be rescued. In some way, Alexander has always survived the obstacles of the passing of time with a powerful force that causes his figure to be constantly revisited, through metaphor and symbol or as a mere starting context, within countless narratives, representations, and fictional productions. This book examines the survival of the young Macedonian king in screen fiction: cinema, television, online videos, and video games. We have chosen to traverse one of these uncharted paths here to seek an Alexander as new as he is old, with twenty-four centuries behind him, while simultaneously reflecting on history, fiction, and popular memory. Antiquity, once again, and it could not be otherwise, is powerfully current and contemporary.
