Economía circular: El camino hacia la sostenibilidad
Synopsis
Circular Economy. El camino hacia la sostenibilidad aims to bring the reader closer to the circular economy (CE), one of the key strategies of the 21st century that favours sustainable development, and to consider whether it will be a reality or a wish in the short term by analysing political, economic, social and environmental factors.
The current economic system is unsustainable: only 7.2% of products and services are circular, and all projections indicate that the socio-environmental impact of consumption will continue to grow in the coming years.
Faced with this problem, the circular economy is a necessity and is starting to become a reality thanks to greater consumer awareness and a stricter environmental regulatory framework. The CE aims to achieve more efficient and resilient production and consumption systems that preserve resources within a continuous cycle, optimising their value and minimising waste generation.
This book presents policies, indicators, tools and strategies for innovation, prevention and minimisation of resources, as well as examples of circular eco-design and global improvement of products and services, from their design to their final management, which show that a more circular and sustainable future is possible.
