Synopsis

Returning to the community after a period in prison is no easy task. These individuals must overcome many barriers, such as re-establishing ties with family and friends, finding employment, overcoming drug addiction and dealing with the stigma associated with imprisonment.
This book presents a detailed account of an experimental study funded by the RecerCaixa programme, in which 89 mentors supported 86 formerly imprisoned individuals over the course of one year. This support was their main resource in the reintegration process.
Readers will find a description of the mentoring programme, as well as an analysis of the potential and limitations of society's involvement in the reintegration of ex-prisoners.
