Mercat de l’art, col·leccionisme i museus 2024
Synopsis
Since October 2012, annual scientific conferences or seminars titled Art Market, Collecting, and Museums have been regularly held, permanently resulting in the publication of volumes containing the presented papers. Currently, this material already forms a genuine corpus of valuable documentation regarding the phenomenon of collecting and the art market in Catalonia.
Our intention in organizing this conference has been to create a platform where research results can be presented and comfortably discussed with all the different sectors linked to the arts: academics, museum professionals, antiques dealers, gallery owners, art dealers, experts, restorers, collectors, and enthusiasts in general.
We are convinced of the complete complementarity of all these viewpoints because the progress of collecting throughout history has always run parallel to the formation of museums and the development of the knowledge and study of the arts. For this reason, we believe in the usefulness of a conference where participants can meet and share information and knowledge, in a friendly format and in a place with a strong symbolic imprint on the history of collecting in Catalonia, such as the Palau de Maricel in Sitges.
